“Here is a hint. You think you desire to
put aside a small part of each day for the divine appointment, and yet your
mental appetites make it impossible of accomplishment. Many of your defenses
are down, not through bodily discomforts, but through an unordered rhythm. To
some this idea of order irritates the mind, but that is a false suggestion
from your outer you; for order, alertness, awareness of the divine companion
is rest.” (pg 101, Letters of the Scattered Brotherhood.)
Catherine Ponder writes that the Mind Power of
Order is located at the navel; it is one of the 12 mind powers. She points
out that it is NOT something to rush around trying to accomplish in an outer
manner. “Order begins within”
I particularly like where she points out that
order, is within, and is personal. Some ‘orderliness” the outer type leads to
confusion, because it is exterior and not centered in the inner harmony.
“Such supposedly orderly people suffer from ill
health and emotional problems of the worst kind, as well as contributing to
the health problems of those about them because of their lack of understanding
of what is truly orderly…. Outer order which is accomplished at the price of
unpleasantness is not order at all. It is stringent willfulness. The
unpleasantness and tension caused by it in the home or business atmosphere
adds immeasurable to the ill health of those exposed to such an atmosphere.”

The physical ailments that people sometimes have
in the stomach and abdominal regions near the navel result from in harmony and
lack of order in the emotions and lives.
One person’s way of creating order for himself, a
stack of papers here and there, is no better or worse than other’s idea of
filing things into special areas, it is about the order within that
counts. Judging another’s way of creating order from within him/herself is
NOT helpful to anyone, especially to the person doing the judging.
Not having divine order can result on many kinds
of disease, and failure in business, or relationships, as well as in physical
health.
I know this stuff works, because half-way though
my meditations this morning, my daughter who’s ‘new’ car blew a tire last
night, came upstairs trying to solve the tire issue, we tried calling several
places only to hear the price & the recommendation of changing all 4 tires; it
would have been almost a month’s pay for her. When she went back downstairs,
I began to repeat, as Ms Ponder had recommended, “divine order; divine order;
divine order.” When she came back upstairs, and made a call, that occurred
to her to try, we found 4 used but in fine shape tires for about $100.00.
I call that an instant gratification and answer to any questions regarding
whether this stuff works.
“The mind power of order coordinates all the mind
powers so that new inspirations may spring forth and find unhindered
recognition in the conscious mind.” (pg 203 Ibid)

Imagine this… you are about to sit down at your desk to pay your bills. What is your state of mind and being right now? Are in feeling in the flow of divine good, at ease and with a feeling of eager anticipation? Or is it more like a burden, a chore, or worse … is there a feeling of dread, resistance and fear coming over you? As metaphysical practitioners, we know the fundamental principle, that ‘where attention goes, energy flows’ ‘what we think about, comes about’, and the inner beliefs and attitudes around money or anything else in life, are reflected in our outer experience. As counselors and teachers, we are cultivating the consciousness of abundance, weeding out limiting beliefs and affirming our good in our time of spirit-centered practice. But does all of this come to a screeching halt when there is a stack of bills in front of us? When the ‘rubber hits the road’, are you running thoughts of scarcity and lack, or even resentment about the mounting demands on a suddenly very limited resource – your checking account? If this sounds at all familiar to you, or if this is a repeating scenario for clients you counsel, I want to share a profound practice that is truly transformative. Blessing your bills! Now I realize that this is not a new idea. I recently scanned through a stack of current books on the topics of abundance, money and metaphysics and most made some reference to uplifting our experience around bill paying. Why don’t we do it? Because there is a pervasive undercurrent in the social collective (race thought) that runs on programs of scarcity, competition, lack and fear around money. There is a gap between what we know and what we do. Until it changes. And now is a good time to change it! Everyone pays bills –whether you do it yourself, or have your bookkeeper handle it – whether you write checks or pay on-line – if you are participating in society, you are contributing to the flow of money in circulation. So why not open wide the portals of your consciousness – let in the Divine and allow your highest truth to have dominion as you sit down to those lovely bills!
